Another trough of low pressure will push into the West Coast this weekend and swing by to our north. This could bring some precipitation to northern portions of the state while the southern half remains dry. We will experience another cool-down as highs drop from around 90° on Saturday to the 80s on Sunday with lows in the 50s to the 60s. Westerly winds will also kick up with gusts to around 30 mph at times. Stronger high pressure will build across the Desert Southwest next week, leading to fair weather with warmer temperatures as daytime highs reach 100° later in the week. Medium-range guidance advertises summer-like weather through Memorial Day weekend as monsoon moisture remains south of the area, for now. Longer range outlooks signify above-normal rainfall throughout the summer months for our area. This suggests we very well could experience a very active monsoon season!
